Listed below are a few important tips to make this task easier for you.

Keep things simple

Keeping things simple is the first and foremost step. Always try to accept things and situations the way they are. Do not try to complicate them by relating it to other happenings in life. 

Humans have a tendency to relate the current problem they are facing with the other mishappenings and difficulties in life. Though some people are more prone than others to do this. My take on this is that it’s very important and crucial to deal with one difficult situation at a time and don’t complicate it by relating it to other issues. This will help you to focus on and reach a reasonable conclusion comparatively with ease.

Avoid overthinking

The second important tip is to avoid overthinking. This seems to be simple but most of us fall easy prey to it. This alone can drain all our energies and power to deal with any situation. As a result, we fall into the deep valley of depression and despair. And it takes a lot of courage to stand and fight against more than one evil at a time namely, your current awkward situation that you are dealing with and a superadded dose of depression. So, why to over challenge yourself? 

So, I strongly recommend avoiding overthinking as much as possible. You can do this by staying in the present situation and time rather than piling up your mind with thoughts that might never happen in reality ever. And focus on how to stay calm more than any other thing.

Stay positive

A positive attitude can make you excel in difficult times. Having a positive attitude will not make the situation better but it will definitely bestow you with the courage and positive energy to stand against all the adverse situations.

Now the question arises how to stay positive in difficult situations. there is one good tip that has helped me a lot. I am sure that it will be equally game changer for you as well and that is to think what could be the worst outcome of the situation you are dealing with. Though the result can be frightening for you for the moment but trust me it will make you stronger and capable of managing the circumstances in a better way. The reason behind this is that it will take away your fear, you would already be knowing what could be the most unfavorable event. And when you will be freed from the fear, all you will be left with will be positivity, which is of utmost importance.

Talk to a reliable person

Talking your heart out to a reliable person that can be your family member or a close friend and help ease the tension. It is a well-known fact and I strongly trust it. Discussing issues with close ones can help you get over much quicker. You never know the person you are talking with can come up with some brilliant idea or solution, which you might be not able to think of. Probably because of your present mental state. So always try to find a trustworthy person and converse with him or her.

Trust your instincts

Coming to the most crucial step, but before that let me tell you what is instinct. It is actually the inherent ability of a person to determine what is going to happen next or what is good and bad for him or herself. Your instincts about your present situation and coming future are the best predictors. Always trust your instincts. When you plan your future actions for the undesired situation, things start falling in to place. And obviously, this is what we want.

I completely agree with everything you said! I would just add that sometimes the stress and negativity can be just too much, and a person may need professional help. Believe me, I’ve been there. Talking with a doctor or counselor about your stress level and finding out your options is a great way to get help if you’re feeling in over your head.

For me, it’s important to talk to a friend and to trust my instincts in stressful situations. Another idea that help me is meditating. Meditating helps me to process the situation and figure out the next step.
